Abstract

Emergency surgery - Following failed PDA device closure  - A case report

Objective- Although PDA device closure is a safe treatment of choice, but in emergency surgery remains gold standard.

Methods- 12 year old boy was taken for emergency PDA ligation and device retreval, who had failed device closure resulting in device migrating to LPA.


Results- device was retrieved, pda ligated.. patient was discharged on post-operative day 4.

Conclusion- sizing devise for PDA, is very important, and should be done by experienced operators. Else it can b life threatening.
